I have often wondered if the natural world of an alien planet would feel as glorious as ours does.  All the worlds began with the same Big Bang, and nature everywhere comes from stardust just as it does here.  But does nature here seems so exquisite because everyone on this planet evolved from the same starter set of genes?

We are cousins to every living being on earth, whether gorilla, pigeon, frog, banana—or tree. We share genetic material even now with them all. And so everywhere feels like home.

Trees are my kin.  They live on a different time scale from me, and they don't speak in words.  But we all have needs and desires.  We all know suffering, and we all have bodies that grow and age and eventually die. And we are all unique.

These tree photos honor their spirits.
